In a bid to change my morning bucket of tea into a bucket of hot cleansing lemon water, I have discovered that there are some mornings that I just really feel the need for caffeine. Enter the Caffeinated Supershakes!… Hey, we can’t be nutrition angels every day right?

So I have been playing about with combining breakfast and caffeine in one lovely glass of goodness.  Blend either set of ingredients for 30 seconds and enjoy! I’d love to hear what you think.


Rocket fuel

For an early morning run, either a school run or actual run, I have found this is hard to beat. Hence it’s name.

  • 1 banana
  • 1 shot cold espresso (make up the night before and pop in the fridge)
  • ½ cup milk of your choice
  • 1 tbsp cocoa
  • Small handful porridge oats
  • Small handful nuts of your choice
  • 1 tbsp protein powder
  • Pinch cardamom (optional)
  • Few ice cubes

Pineapple a go go

After purchasing some matcha powder online and a couple of interesting experiments with quantity (watch out – it is high in caffeine!)  I am now absolutely loving this addition to my kitchen flavours. Well worth buying a pot of this antioxidant superpower to try out.


  • Handful of spinach
  • Tbsp linseeds
  • Tbsp greek yogurt
  • Handful of frozen pineapple
  • 1 ½ tsps matcha powder
  • Few ice cubes
  • Top up with water to your preferred consistency
