Slow cooker recipes are awesome! Chop everything up, throw it all in one pot and leave it to work it’s magic.

The “Big old bowl of chilli” is exactly what it says. This super simple slow cooker recipe makes a huge portion of chill providing you with dinner tonight, lunch tomorrow and even some left to freeze for a rainy day.

Slow Cooker recipes

  • 800g of lean steak mince (grass-fed if you can).

  • Tin of kidney beans (drained)

  • Two tins of chopped tomatoes.

  • Beef stock

  • Two onions roughly chopped.

  • Two cloves of garlic (minced)

  • 3 large carrots roughly sliced

  • 1 tbsp of cumin

  • 1 tbsp of smoked paprika

  • 1 tbsp hot chilli powder

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

  • Pinch of salt and pepper



  1. Chop the onions and carrots.

  2. Mince the garlic

  3. Drain the kidney beans

  4. Measure out your spices

That’s the “hard” work done. Now put all the ingredients bar the cocoa powder into your slow cooker, switch it on and leave it for 8 hours (low). In the last hour mix in the cocoa powder (gives it that rich dark colour).

Now the fun part serve up with some fresh vegetables and enjoy! You can also throw in some sweet potato wedges or rice if it’s been a training day!

Vegetarians don’t feel left out. This is just one of the super simple slow cooker recipes I have been playing around with. I have an awesome protein packed lentil chilli in the works!
