It’s easy to fall into the trap of being busy without actually achieving much. How many times have you had a busy day at work only to look back and have no idea what you have actually done all day?
The same things happen when it comes to the gym and training. I often speak with people who are busy doing 101 different things to try and accomplish their goals without any real focused effort on addressing the source of their problems.
There is a little known principle known as the 80/20 rule; where an Italian economist by the name of Paretos observed that 80% of the peas in his garden came from 20% of his pea pods.
JAMIE I want six pack abs not more garden peas! Hold on for just a second i’m getting there! The governing rule of 80/20 has been applied to a lot more that just your next harvest. The two I really want to draw you attention are:
1# 80% of your problems and unhappiness come from 20% of your activates, actions and people.
2# 80% of your results will come from 20% of your time and effort.
The kicker is that 20% is normally made up of the things we want to avoid changing. They are what’s called limiting factors.
Getting to grips with those limiting factors is absolutely essential if you seek success. The cool thing is once you have found them it’s just a case of getting a plan of action to remove them and success is at your feet!
